The 12 contestants are introduced. Marissa tells the contestants the rules and they get started with their workouts. Later, they perform their first dances. Angela is eliminated.
Disco music is the theme this week, as the 11 remaining contestants continue their quest to dance off their excess weight. Alicia has a self-described "meltdown" while preparing for her routine and ends up in the bottom two. Warren is eliminated.
The 10 remaining contestants learn to dance on a stripper pole from an instructor at Crunch Gym in preparation for this week's routines. After the sexy, edgy routines requiring use of a pole in the center of the dance floor and the weigh-ins, Trice and Karla were left in the bottom two. A low weight loss score and a middling dance average resulted in Karla going home.
The nine remaining contestants face "Latin Week" and showcase their best salsa skills. Host Marissa Jaret Winokur informs the contestants that two of them will be going home this week, inspiring the contestants to step up their workouts and dance rehearsal. Tara, Pinky and Brandon made up the bottom three, with Pinky’s dance scores helping her avoid elimination. Tara is eliminated first and Mara is brought bac…more
The contestants dance to songs from movies this week, but for the first time they are assigned dance styles, ranging from the jive (based on the film “Flashdance”) to the tango (inspired by “The Wedding Singer”). After last week’s taping, the contestants found out that the winner of the next show earns a call home, motivating many of them to push harder than ever. Each contestant performs two dance routines: one hip-hop and one tango. Ruben earns the first perfect score of the season, hitting three 10’s with his tango. Mara, Shayla and Alicia are the three contestants in jeopardy, but Shayla’s dance score is strong enough to keep her safe. Mara’s low weight loss dooms her chances and she is sent home.
The contestants dance pop song routines from the 1980’s and the foxtrot. At the loft, the contestants are reunited with their families. The three contestants in jeopardy are Shayla, Pinky and Ruben. Ruben receives a perfect dance score (three 10’s) and thus has the high score for the week. In a surprise twist, no contestants are eliminated and all four will compete in the semifinal round next week.
It’s the semifinals and the four remaining contestants receive makeovers for their “Life & Style” magazine photo shoot before preparing two technically-demanding routines: the cha-cha and the Viennese waltz. Alicia is eliminated and Pinky, Shayla and Ruben move on to the finale, with Ruben netting the high score.
Pinky, Shayla and Ruben reconnect with the eliminated contestants. Alicia wins $5,000 for having the greatest percentage of weight loss. Pinky, Shayla and Ruben have to do a freestyle performance and then a dance style chosen by the judges. Ruben bests Shayla and Pinky with his substantial weight loss and wins the $100,000 prize.
