Transformation

Updated 2008-09-18 10:05:46

Previously: The designers had to create an avant-garde look with the assistance of one of the eliminated designers. Jerell won the challenge, with the help of Jennifer. Two designers went home. Blayne was one of them. I feel like a casting person may have been sent to Siberia (aka Delaware) after Blayne presented the outfit that he made. The fact that Blayne had something so horrible in him means that someone didn't do their job. He should never have been on the show. Also, in a massive display of BULLSHIT, Terri was sent home. It just wasn't that bad. Rayon's was worse and Kenley's was trash. And, I'm bothered more and more by the whole "Terri's a bitch" cum "Terri is one-note" arc that got shoe-horned into the past few episodes. Fine, she had some attitude with Keith, but it had been popularly acknowledged that Keith was difficult. She may be a bitch, but her not getting along with Keith is not the proof. Nor is Jerell talking smack about her when we never saw her say even a word to him. Either she's just really good at unleashing her attitude when the cameras aren't around or BULLSHIT. And, I just don't think she was one-note. Yes, she liked pants. But, it wasn't like Rami's obsession with draping or anything. Boo on Terri leaving.

Also, I've been thinking about it, and I think it's really silly that Michael Kors called Kenley a tourist . That just doesn't make any sense. Tourists aren't stubborn. However, a TAURUS is stubborn. Somebody send him an email -- he should know this. And, when he said her top was ripped off of Ralph Lauren ? Also silly. If Michael Kors knew anything, he'd know that Kenley really ripped that look off of Viktor & Rolf. Any FOOL would know that. Honestly, it surprises me that he can live with himself. Heh.

It's morning at the Atlas Apartments and we're two lighter. Joe says that he can't believe that two designers are gone. We see a shot of the chalkboard in the boys' apartment. Stupidly scrawled across it are the words, "Team, I will miss you & love youlicous." There are a heart and rose drawn around that last stupid word. Joe adds, "I can't believe Blayne." That's odd to me, I could completely believe Blayne would be eliminated. I believed it weeks and weeks before it even happened. Rayon interviews that he came close to being eliminated during the last runway show. He has to prove himself during this next challenge. We've heard it all before. He says that he is going to fight until the end and he's going to make it. Do you really think he feels that way?

In the girls' apartment, Korto asks Leanne what she thinks they will be doing for that challenge. Leanne says that she thinks they will be making "evening gowns for infants." That's so funny and evocative. I really love that she said that. And, I hope that she considers making a few of those evening gowns once this is all over.

While Kenley is spackling on her lipstick, we hear an interview where she says via her nasal cavity that she can't understand at all why she was in the bottom during the last challenge. She says that she is going to stick to her strategy, which is to be true to herself as a designer and not care what the judges think. Now, there's a little something wise about what she's saying. More than a few designers have let themselves get too much in their own heads after comments from the judges. But, there are so many layers of petulance, defensiveness, and puerility on top of the words -- I can't even get that far. The judges are there to carry out the purpose of the show, not get between you and Bryant Park. If you aren't willing to try at all to give them what they want, why are you here? Just go raise some money and put on your own damn show at Fashion Week (I know, easier said than done -- but, it's also easier to try to work with the freaking judges). And, I don't know if she's aware of what an asshole she sounds like most of the time.

At Parson's, Heidi greets everyone on the runway. Before we hear about the challenges, Heidi wants to introduce us to some "special ladies." Then, Barbara Eden appears behind the scrim. Like current-day Barbara Eden. A very old Jeannie appears behind the scrim. Then, she enters the runway, followed by other old ladies. I'm being facetious, they're middle-aged. Assuming that their life expectancy is between 100 and 120 years. Korto says that she sees the women walking out and assumes it's the mom challenge, which she says makes her nervous because she doesn't want to have to stab anyone for talking about her mother. Jerell can tell that the women are mothers -- but he doesn't see his or Korto's (I thought the same thing), so he knows they aren't working with their own mothers.

Heidi says that the women onstage with her will play an important part in the next challenge, but the designers will not be designing for them. In an interview, Leanne breathes a sigh of relief and wipes fake sweat from her forehead. She says that none of them want to design an old lady outfit. Understood. Heidi says that the ladies have brought someone with them who the designers will be designing for. Then, a group of girls (clearly the women's daughters) come out, each standing beside (presumably) her mother. Jerell says that he wonders if this is a prom challenge because all of the girls look so young. Not that young, apparently. Heidi says that all of the girls are recent college graduates and the mothers have brought them there for head-to-toe makeovers. This is the Tresemme challenge, which means we'll see approximately 45 seconds more hair stuff than we usually see. It's like I'm watching a completely different show. The makeovers are to assist the young ladies in their transition from students to career women. Well, given our current economy, I wonder if some clever designer will give one of the girls a metal cup to beg with. For real, ya'll. What the hell? Anyone out there working for a bank? Could you please fix this shit? All of the girls and their mothers introduce themselves.

Heidi randomly chooses the designers via the velvet button bag that she is holding and matches them with the girls and mothers as they are lined up on the runway. Kenley gets Anna, this cute little girl with blonde bangs. Anna seems excited and says, "Cool." Kenley says that Anna has a really cool style, so she's happy to work with her. One of the mannequins says to the other, "Why did she whine while she was saying that?" The others like, "Dunno." The first one's all, "Fuck that noise." Korto gets Megan, who seems rather shy. Joe is working with Laura. Leanne is working with Holly. She interviews that there is no way that Holly is a college graduate -- she looks like she's 12. Rayon is working with Avital. There's a whole lotta name going on in that pairing. That means that Jerell is working with Caitlin. He tells her that they are going to have fun and she says that she can tell. Heidi takes the guests off of the runway and the designers head for the workroom.

In the workroom, Jerell remarks that, with the departure of another two designers, they have extra large workspaces. Aw. Tim enters and talks more about the Tresemme challenge. He mentions that the mothers will be opinionated and are essentially their clients too. So, I guess we can count on the moms being all up in the business. The designers will have 30 minutes to meet with the girls and moms. Then, they'll go to Mood with 100 bucks. Tim wishes them good luck then sends in the girls.

Joe says that the dynamic between mothers and daughters is the 8th wonder of the world. Because it's man-made? In a way, I guess that's accurate. He says that if the mother likes it, the daughter won't. He doesn't know how he's going to make both of his clients happy. At Kenley's worktable, Anna seems really excited. She says, "I got the cute girl." Um, college is over, Anna. You should have already gotten that out of your system. Kenley interviews that she really likes Anna and that she reminds her of herself. That's terrifying. She tells Kenley that she has already gotten a job as an assistant buyer for women's accessories. Kenley says that's perfect. She says she got the best girl. That is a perfect job for one of these designers to create a makeover around. She interviews that she and Anna have the same style (how convenient) so she's going to do what she does best and create some '40s- or '50s-inspired look. Kenley's working the mom angle and we see her tell Nancy that she's right about something.

Korto asks Megan if she has already found a job. She's actually trying to decide between med school and grad school. She says she likes dresses. Korto feels that she has an advantage because she's a "hip mom." Amy, Megan's mother, says that she thinks Megan looks best in classic clothes. Of course you do, Mom. She says that she also looks good in "funky" clothes. Now, something about Amy's enunciation of "funky" makes me think she hasn't been spending that much time around anything that terribly funky. For instance, if funky were to smack her in the head? Not so sure she'd know what hit her. Megan is working in the lab at school, so Korto thinks a wrap dress might be nice -- something that moves while it has a lab coat over it.

Jerell's girl, Caitlin, also has blonde bangs. She went to school for print-making, so her job options are teacher or artist's assistant. Odd isn't it that "print maker" is not one of those options? It's a cruel world. Seriously, could someone fix a bank? Caitlin tells Jerell that she's not super girly. In fact, she likes her clothes to be androgynous, but "as a girl." Jerell acts like he knows what she's talking about (something in his eyes tells me he's just a little bit confused). He decides to make a high-waist pencil skirt, a blousy top, and a man-style cardigan. Ooh, cardigan could be nice. Love me some cardigans, especially 6 to 8 cardigans of the same design but in different colors. Thank you, Uniqlo. Jerell says his design is "flirty and sexy in its own little awkward way, like her...and me!" I'd find that endearing if it didn't sound like he wrote it on his hand before he sat down for the interview.

Holly tells Leanne that she's going to become a schoolteacher and needs to look older. Elementary school. That's probably not necessary, right? I had teachers right out of college when I was in grade school and I thought they were my mom's age and they were actually like 10 years younger. Holly tells Leanne that she's fine with both skirts and pants. Ellie, her mother, pipes in that a dress is easiest, because you don't have to worry about a top or a jacket. Leanne interviews that Holly is a little more easygoing than her mother. Ellie asks Leanne if she designs with a lot of animal prints. Leanne says nonchalantly, "No." You can totally hear her internal monologue though, which goes something like, "Don't scream. Don't scream. Just back out of the room, Leanne." Holly says that her mother would buy anything with an animal on it, ANYTHING.

Avital, Rayon's girl, tells him that she studied photography in school. She has super long hair with some crazy dark roots going on. Just to clear the air, I hate Avital's hair. Rayon says that Avital wants something that she can interview in and photograph in. And, to photograph, she needs to be able to roll around and carry a lot of equipment. Do you really have to photograph after or before an interview? Do you just not have a lot of room in your closet? Yaffa, her mother, says that Avital should be comfortable when she's bending down with the camera. Avital likes pants, which Rayon informs us is not Rayon's thing. But, since she's his client, he's going to have "to go down that pant road." Jesus. Yaffa says that Avital should wear something feminine, but Avital says "not too feminine."

Joe asks Laura if she has any silhouettes in mind for her look. Laura looks at him like he's speaking a language that she didn't study. Her mother, Janet, says that Laura doesn't want to lose her identity. If my mom had to say that for me when I was sitting right next to her, I'd be a little embarrassed. Joe tells us that Laura doesn't have a job yet, but studied graphic design and will be interviewing for positions. Joe thinks a skirt suit might work. Laura wants the jacket to be sexy. Joe says that they just have to make sure it fits in the right places.

Tim enters, signaling the end of sketch time. Everybody hugs their girl. Then, we're on to Mood. Korto gets some burlap fabric for a jacket. She also grabs some leather, though she corrects herself and calls it "leathah." And, now that Stella is gone, she says that she's the "Queen of Leathah." Joe is looking at men's suiting fabric. Kenley says to "herself" that she's "gonna make the prettiest dress in the world." Rayon says that Avital is open to colors, so -- out of all of the colors in the world -- Rayon says that he wants to find a Pucci-esque fabric with purple. And, lo and behold, he does. As they are leaving Mood, Tim says goodbye to the cutest black and white dog. His name? Swatch. How cute is that?

Back at the workroom, Tim tells them that they will have the rest of the day and all of the next day to finish. Korto interviews that, without immunity, it's time for everyone to prove themselves with their design.

Leanne says that she's going to make a dress for Holly. She says that her first job was designing for a small clothing company. Her confession is accompanied by a picture of the younger Leanne, really resembling the eliminated Jennifer. Working there helped her realize that she wanted to have her own clothing company.

Joe explains that his girl hasn't gotten a job yet, so he will be making something for her to wear to interviews. He tells us that his first job was at Gucci. He worked in the stockroom and would open the boxes of goods from Italy. It gave him an affinity for clothing. We see a picture of Joe when he used to be Chris Kirkpatrick.

Kenley tells everyone that her girl is a buyer. Miraculously, Anna loves vintage, so Kenley is going to really stretch and tells everyone that she's going to go totally vintage. We see a picture of Kenley in her college graduation cap and gown. She says that, as soon as she graduated, she moved to New York. BY HERSELF. She had "zero money in [her] pocket." This apparently represents one of the many "obstacles" that Kenley feels have been placed in her way. Don't most people move here by themselves? And, did they not have part-time jobs in Florida where you could put aside money for your move? Cry me a river.

Jerell says that he's very excited about this challenge. He feels like he's going to make something that the judges will like. He tells us that his first job was at McDonald's. He says that he got lots of free ice cream, as well as bad skin from being near a fryer all day. This makes me love Jerell just a little.

Korto is working on her jacket with the burlap material -- the fabric is scaring her. She says that her biggest challenge is making the look of the jacket and dress cohesive. Rayon says that he needs to make something very professional for Avital. He interviews that he's not into making pants, so he's going to drape the jacket first. He thinks the jacket is going to be really hot.

Tim sends in the moms and daughters for a fitting. Jerell presents his design to Caitlin and she seems to love it. Avital thinks Rayon's look is too professional. Yaffa suggests using the Pucci fabric on the cuff and Rayon says that it looks cheap. Yaffa is a little older and I think this kind of offends her a bit, though I don't think stupid Rayon meant it in an insulting way. Cheap is a common descriptor in fashion -- he's not saying that she's trying to make her daughter look like a whore. Rayon interviews that he can't do everything his clients want and have the judges be all, "We lost you. Where are you in this work?" He's so stupid.

Laura, Joe's girl, doesn't like the pinstripes he chose. I just want to say -- it's clear to me at this point that Joe is going to have a hard time. I'm not sure I completely blame him. Of all the girls, this one seems to have the least personality. That doesn't exonerate him or anything for making mistakes, but I think it's worth thinking about. She says she just doesn't like pinstripes, but maybe she has to get over it. Janet is much more supportive of Joe's idea.

Amy points out that Korto chose fabrics contrasting in texture for Megan's outfit and Korto explains that the texture is her personal touch as a designer. Kenley is fitting Anna and telling her how great the dress is the whole time. Jerell interviews that Kenley can make a great "'50s/'60s" dress, but that's all she does.

Ellie thinks that Leanne's dress makes Holly look flat-chested. She has problems with the fit and silhouette. She tells Leanne that if that were in a store and saw this dress, they would keep looking for something more flattering. Jerell interviews that they were all wondering who would get the Hedda Lettuce in this challenge. He believes it is Leanne. Tim enters and removes the mom and daughter teams. Leanne has to redo a lot of work now. Korto tells Leanne that she felt bad for her when she heard Ellie and Holly.

Rayon just really refuses to make pants. He's draping the top and, you won't believe this, it really looks like a dress. You know, he should get Avital on board for this whole dress thing. Why, that's what he's going to do! Joe describes his look to Jerell and tells him that he's going to add a splashy pocket square. Jerell mocks him, saying that girls don't usually have an assortment of pocket squares. Kenley interviews that an '80s business suit is all wrong for a graphic designer. Actually, the right 80's business suit could be perfect for a graphic designer. Jerell jokes in the workroom in front of Joe, "Kenley, may I borrow a pocket square." She laughs and gives him a square of fabric, which he places in his pocket. Joe says that Jerell likes to make fun of everyone, to make himself look better. Then, it's the end of the day and Jerell says that Joe can work on Nancy Reagan tomorrow. OK, that's funny. Joe says that "opinions are like -- no, I won't say that." Thank you. Joe handles the whole thing like a very good sport.

The next day, Tim enters the workroom and brings the clients in for a second fitting. This time, the moms aren't with the girls. Joe thinks that the blazer is going to look really good. He thinks he will be showing the judges his skill with tailoring. Jerell seems happy. Holly is very happy with Leanne's changes. Avital "loves" Rayon's dress idea, so says he. He interviews that the news is a (thumbs up) "Bonus!" He makes me so angry.

Tim enters and asks everyone to gather 'round. Rayon says that's never a good thing to hear and he's afraid they are going to have to make dresses for the mothers. In fact, he says he will jump out the window if that's the case. I guess you can imagine what I'm hoping for right now. Instead though, Tim introduces Jeanie Syfu, lead stylist for the Tresemme hair care creative team. She will be consulting with them about the hair portion of the makeover. Jeanie has perhaps the cutest hairstyle in the whole world, with these short little bangs that aren't precious at all. She's awesome. She says that they want to emphasize transformations. She also announces that the winning look will be shown in Elle .

She recommends that Laura go soft as a way to complement the polish of the suit. Avital resists cutting her hair (which desperately needs cutting) because her boyfriend likes it. Holly agrees to take some length off of her hair. That sounds like it might be a good cut. With Megan's hair, which is very curly, Jeanie recommends a coppery color and thick slices taken out to emphasize the shape. She's going to make Caitlin's hair flatter and softer. With Anna's hair, they're going with a slight asymmetry to allow a sideswipe. And, they are going redder with the color. Kenley repeats everything that Jeanie said, as if she thought of it herself. She's so annoying.

After the consult with Jeanie, Tim comes into the workroom. He has serious issues with the quality of work in Rayon's jacket. He doesn't even get to the part where he talks about how ridiculous it looks. Tim doesn't feel like the suit isn't relevant to Laura's job. Joe interviews that he's not worried about Tim's criticism. Tim thinks that Jerell's look is stunning, but wants to make sure that the sweater is not too blousy.

Tim approaches Kenley and tells her that, without the belt, the vest that she has made looks very masculine. He also asks her to think about the fact that the tulle showing at the bottom of her dress (per usual) doesn't necessarily have to show. The dress would be cute without it. She interviews that Tim doesn't get her. And, she says she never changes anything for him. I hate her. Dear God, I hope she doesn't make it to the final three. Jerell, you just got my vote.

Joe says his daughters already know what they like and what they don't like. Korto says that her daughter will usually want to wear whatever mommy is wearing. Joe asks her if she makes clothes for her daughter and she says she does. She says that her daughter already has her own style and we see pictures of her. What a cute little munchkin!!! So adorable. Joe says that he thinks this challenge is impossible, because he thinks it's impossible for mothers and daughters to agree. Being with the moms and daughters makes him miss his family. So, we see him talking to them in the lounge. He tells his girls that he misses them and they say they miss him more -- which is really sweet. He's doing this show to demonstrate to his girls that they can be whatever they want to be. Except America's next big fashion designer. They've learned that they can design for drag queens, that's it. A summer with Habitat for Humanity might have been a better idea, Joe.

That night, in their apartment, the women say they think Rayon is going home. Leanne says that his girl looks like she's ready to audition for the role of Selena. Kenley laughs and says, "With the flared sleeve!" She goes on -- he's not a good designer because he can't interpret his style in different ways. Like Kenley does? She interviews that Rayon is a poseur and she doesn't understand his design aesthetic. Nothing she's saying is really untrue, but I just find her so completely obnoxious right now. It's the whine. There's always that whine in everything she says.

At Parson's, Tim enters and brings in the clients. They have an hour for hair and make-up. Joe mentions to Laura that some think that the suit is not right for a graphic designer and she replies, "A job's a job." I sort of agree with her. With the right suit.

The designers remark that Anna is a miniature Kenley. So, all of this makeover stuff has to happen in one hour. That's crazy. We see them rush through hair and make-up. Jerell remarks that Rayon's outfit is very 1992. Frankly, Jerell is being kind, not sure why he chose this moment to do that. Kenley, naturally, is not impressed with anyone else. She's sure that she'll be in the top three. She's cultivating a new variety of hate in me right now. On the runway, Heidi introduces Michael, Nina, and guest judge Cynthia Rowley. I was in Montauk the weekend she got married. All I wanted was a damn lobster roll and to finish Oh, The Glory of It All . Instead I got traffic and three deep waits at bars. Thanks, Cynthia.

The show begins with Joe's outfit on Laura. Now, there's no denying that it's a stupid outfit. And, frankly, it's pretty 1992 itself. But, it would probably look a little cuter on a slimmer girl. It's a skirt and blazer in pinstripes with a silk wrap top in stripes. The top is so unflattering. Most of all, this is all really unflattering. I personally don't find the suit to be that terrible of an idea, but not on this girl. Joe thinks she looks professional and smart.

Here's Holly in Leanne's look. It's an aubergine dress with a high waistband. There's a short gray jacket that falls at the waist, with ¾ sleeves to match. I think it's pretty cute. Leanne thinks Holly looks sophisticated. The hair looks great too and makes Holly seem a little taller.

Here's Jerell's look on Caitlin. It's really cute. A brown skirt with a lighter brown satin top. There are frills along the top of the bust and transparent brown fabric above that. Accompanying is a long brown cardigan. I really like this. Not sure it's appropriate for an interview, unless it was for a PR job. But, she looks super cute and they've dyed her hair all one color. Bonus! Jerell thinks that Caitlin really could wear this to find a job.

Here's Megan in Korto's look. She looks cute. It's a green print wrap dress with a tan fitted jacket on top. The jacket has a little warp in the lapel, creating a cut-out when it's fastened (which it does to the neck). It's cute. Not my favorite thing ever -- but it's OK. Korto says she feels like she was successful in fusing the jacket and the dress. She didn't take this challenge literally, instead, she thought about designing for a 21 year old girl.

So, last week I thought that when Blayne's look appeared, I'd maybe seen the worst possible thing that I could see on this show. I was, to put it mildly, wrong. To put it spicy, SHUT THE FUCK UP. So, the "Pucci-esque" print in purple? More like 1970's Howard Johnson bedspread. The print has been draped into a fairly shapeless and unremarkable dress. But, the jacket... It's a long dark green blazer thing with these massive rococo cuffs and purple embroidery on the (uneven) pockets and cuffs. I want to puke and spin with laughter and cry and orgasm all at once this is so bad. It's like a Bratz doll made by a person with broken glasses. Like shattered glass -- made by a person looking through shattered magnifying glass. I can't -- hold on a second. Back. I just did all those things. Had to. This is the most tasteless thing that has ever appeared this late in a season, with the possible exception of Michael Knight's Bryant Park collection . That stuff at least looked like it was made by a person who doesn't see have make-out sessions with the ghost of Liberace. This shit's crazy. Rayon says that he gave Avital the artistic piece that she wanted. Dear Lord. Poor Avital too. Man, she's working it on the runway. In that horrible Picasso/Dance Party USA circa when Kelly Ripa was on it/unwearable disaster.

Here's Kenley's look. Blah. I don't even have energy for her right now. It's a '50s print dress with tulle crinolines (per usual). There's a short vest over the top (kinda clever) with a belt over the best (think I like it). Kenley says that Anna's mom Nancy is thrilled.

The show is over and I still taste the sandwich I ate yesterday and now I need a nap. Seriously, I can't get over how ugly that fucking outfit was. Maybe the dude really is a total and complete poseur. This is just too weird. Maybe he's not even 37, like he says he is. Maybe he's like 52 and has tons of cats that he names after European cities. Oslo loves to eat Kleenex. I just can't believe this guy has had even one job in fashion, even as an accountant.

Heidi releases the moms and asks the designers and models to come onto the runway. Heidi asks Kenley about her dress first. She says that she wanted to make something fun and cute. She also adds that she thinks it would be just great (!) for Elle . I love that she's so confident she's not getting eliminated that she's just jockeying for the win. Seriously, I actually kind of admire that a little bit. Heidi says that Kenley has found a "Mini-Me." That's funny. And not flattering -- I like Heidi for this. I'm sure everyone's noticed how it sort of appears that Heidi hates Kenley. I can almost forgive Heidi for looking like a total ass at the Emmy's the other night when I remember that she's good at turning the screws on Kenley. Smart move, Klum Seal. Nina thinks the dress is charming, but there's something a little withholding in her voice. Could it be that yet another of our panelists is totally over Kenley? Michael thinks it's the right dress for the right girl. He's really overdone the "right blank on the right blank on the right..." thing, right? Cynthia likes the dress as well, in particular the belt. She says the look is very fairy tale "but maybe that's not a bad thing." Kenley nods her head like, "You get me!" That's so annoying to me.

Cynthia tells Joe that she thinks it's weird that he chose a suit. Laura takes off the jacket and reveals to the judges that she likes the look better without the jacket. Unfortunately, the look doesn't like her any better without the jacket. Michael says it looks like a 60 year old person's idea of what a person should wear to a job interview. He does this silly voice that's all 60 years old and boring. And, Kenley starts giggling on the runway. Now, I agree that Joe has created something really ugly and boring, but do you have to show so little respect for him? He's a reasonably nice guy. Doesn't that earn him NOT BEING LAUGHED AT during a runway judging where they're already tearing him apart? Man, Kenley's a dick. I seriously think she's so stupid and immature and boring. Nina hits the nail on the head when she tells Joe that his look is really cliché.

Korto says that she was trying to create something fun for Megan. Michael says the look is current. Megan loves what she's wearing. Cynthia likes the jacket a lot. Nina says that the look is very modern, yet professional

The judges seem kind of apathetic about Leanne's look. They ask her to take the jacket off, then they love the dress. But, they hate the jacket. Michael and Nina feel like she was trying to hide Holly's body. Cynthia says you don't need to be formal to be an authority figure to children.

Jerell describes his look and explains that the cardigan was a nod to the androgyny that Caitlin favors. Heidi says she would totally hire Caitlin as she's dressed. Caitlin says that she loved working with Jerell and that he made her feel pretty.

Cynthia thinks the jacket for Rayon's look is gratuitous. Michael would not have guessed that Avital is a photographer. Because she looks trashy and all. Rayon says he was thinking of a day-to-evening look. Cynthia says she should just change her clothes. That's funny. Nina thinks the print of the dress mixed with the shape of the jacket is a problem, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. She says that she won't say anymore.

The judges confer. They think Jerell transformed Caitlin. She looked sophisticated, yet not old. Nina says Kenley has the ability to find interesting prints and patterns. Heidi points out that it's retro and not in a bad way. I think she's making a larger point about Kenley not being original though. Maybe I'm giving Heidi too much credit. Michael liked the work on Korto's jacket. Cynthia says it could have been expensive.

Nina was shocked by Rayon's jacket. Cynthia says Avital looks 20 years older, and Nina agrees but thinks she's from a different decade. Cynthia says it's a disaster. They thought that Leanne was old-fashioned. Cynthia thinks Joe is out of touch. Heidi says the suit was also badly done. "Full Becky Home Ec-y" is the comparison that Michael Kors made. I swear, if he's actually saying "It's Very Early Amanda Woodward on Melrose Place " and I heard the Becky stuff, I'm going to an ear doctor. Nina says there was nothing contemporary about Joe's look. Michael thinks you could wear Joe's look to a Working Girl party. If anyone hears of one of those, please invite me. Let the river run, kids.

The designers are back. Korto is in. And the winner is... Jerell. Kenley totally rolls her eyes. She's such a little beast. Kenley is in. Leanne is in. So, we're down to Joe and Rayon. Heidi says that Joe took a young girl and made her look drab and cliché. Rayon's look was dated, overworked, and completely impractical. And Joe is... out. Really? That's stunning. Could anything be worse than what Rayon just made? Anything?

Joe says that his daughter has always thought that Heidi's "Auf Wiedersehen" was actually "outsy daisy." He just got his "outsy daisy." He doesn't think he should be going home. Tim says that Joe has been a pleasure to work with and he leads him to clean up his workspace. He says that he hopes he has taught his daughters to achieve what they want.
