I cannot even begin to think about explaining how great this show is. Shawn Spencer brings detective work into an all-new light, delivering CSI-Quality deductions in an outrageously funny and sarcastic way. There are certain qualities that set this show apart from CSI or Cold Case or Monk or any other detective show you would care to name. First of all, the biggest snag in this show is that Shawn never, ever gets the full story due to head detective and head skeptic Carlton Lasseter. Second, he is helped along the way by his brainy, nerdy, and not-all-too-smooth best friend Burton Guster. Third, the delivery of the killer is so dramatic (save S02 E02) and funny that even if you are 101% sure of who the culprit is, you will watch and laugh. 99% percent of the time, though, you will never know who the killer is until he says. The plots are genius. Fourth, the show is made suspicious by the mixed emotions of female protagonists Juliet O'Hara and Karen Vick. Sean's attempts to hit on the ever-indecisive Jules (once labeled by Shawn as an enigma wrapped in a little blonde riddle ) makes for some quality comedy, and Cheif Vick just makes you believe anything of her. Fifth point of praise are the unique jokes about actors. It's just crazy funny and sometimes confusing. The very last thing are the crazy plots which include getting hired by a childhood bully, taking a case that leads them to a comic book convention, and trying to prove that the only possible murderer would be an extinct creature. I challenge anyone who hasn't seen the show to watch 3 episodes and tell me you don't believe in psychics.
