Five diverse teen couples from around the country arrive in Boise, Idaho to participate in a unique social experiment, which asks them to jump into life as an adult to test their relationships and their readiness for parenthood. Kelsey and Alicea make unexpected requests to their boyfriends, they want to go to work. The pressure of maintaining a job, house and family is starting to build, but the teens get a surprise from home that make some teens happy and others not so thrilled. As the teens say goodbye to their infants, the parents are anxious to be reunited with their kids and give the teens their first evaluation.
Morgan and Daton must plan a birthday party, but it doesn't go as planned. Meanwhile, Kelsey and Sean have to potty train their toddler. Kelly surprises Austin by deciding she wants to go off to work and leaves him home to care for the twins. After bonding with the tots for three days, it's time for the parents to take their kids back and to talk about the teens' parenting skills.
Cory and Alicea, must host a slumber party for all nine of the neighborhood kids.
After brunch together, the couples return home to find their teens waiting. Morgan and Daton's relationship trouble comes to a head, leaving Morgan to make decision. Each couple learns some of the challenges teens pose, from a family outing to finding their teens out of bed in the middle of the night. After three days, the couples get a chance to tell the parents how their kid behaved.
While taking care of the elderly, all with individual levels of mobility and various ailments, the couples all get to learn about their own lives and relationships. After becoming close to the seniors, the teens must say goodbye to one another, and reflect on what they have learned during the social experiment.
Participants reunite to talk about their experiences on the show and answer questions submitted online by viewers; guests discuss teen pregnancy; Hoda Kotb hosts.
